You don’t have to put up with a computer that used to be speedy but now is running sluggishly, not as long as there are applications such as System Speed Booster out there. This dark-themed and user friendly utility will uncover and fix problems with the Windows Registry, it will remove junk files that clutter your disk, it will remove files that could put your privacy in danger, and it will repair and optimize the system configuration. On top of that, it comes with a few other utilities that can prove to come in handy.

The System Speed Booster installation file is of only 3.6MB, which means that the download will complete in a blink. Run the file, go through the instructions presented by the setup wizard, and in little time System Speed Booster will be ready to use. During the installation process, you can pick between a full installation (core files, start menu and desktop shortcuts), lite installation (only the core files), and custom installation (choose if you want start and desktop shortcuts). You can install System Speed Booster on 32 and 64-bit editions of Windows 7, Vista, XP, and 2000. When the installation process completes, your default browser will launch and you will be directed to a systemspeedbooster.com page.

To scan your system for problems, you can hit the bit Scan button from the top left hand corner of the interface – but you don’t really need to do that, because the moment you launch System Speed Booster, it will immediately go to work and start a scan. The scan covers the following functions: Registry Scan (remove invalid Registry entries), Privacy Sweep (clear the browsing history and other tracks you leave behind when using the computer), Junk Files Removal (get rid of files that are needlessly taking up space on your computer), and System Optimization (repair and optimize system configuration). Once the scan completes, System Speed Booster prompts you to fix the problems it found. A registered version will fix all the uncovered problems; the trial version will fix no more than 5.

As mentioned above, a scan will run automatically when you launch System Speed Booster – that is the default behavior. From the Settings menu you can set it up so a scan is run automatically at a specific time, or on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. You can also set up privacy sweeps to be run automatically.

System Speed Booster also comes with a few small utilities that should come in handy. There’s a File Pulverizer utility that permanently deletes files, a Cloned File Cleaner utility that finds duplicate files and removes them, a Startup Manager utility that displays the applications that automatically run at startup, a Disk Cleaner and a Disk Checker utility, an Auto Shutdown utility that lets you specify when you want your computer to be automatically shut down, a System Information utility, and a link to the Control Panel.

With its scan, clean and fix functionality, and with the extra utilities it has to offer, System Speed Booster makes it very easy to improve your computer’s performance.

Pros

System Speed Booster works with 32 and 64-bit Windows editions. Choose between a full, lite, or custom installation. System Speed Booster quickly scans your system for problems and prompts you to fix them. You can set it up so scans are performed automatically. There are a few extra utilities that come in handy.

Cons

The trial version fixes no more than 5 problems.
